Tadewi














Following my trip to Venice in late 2007, I was to make an art project that reflected my trip. As Venice is a city built upon the water and my projects revolved around fantasy, I decided to make a mermaid project. This hand was my first project working with real clay (as opposed to sculpting clay that can be baked in a normal oven) however, due to a wire base inside which the clay ws built around, I could not kiln it. I covered the hand in plaster to solidify it and painted it with acrylic paints. The white base and red designs are done as to reflect Venetian masks the final version will have netting between the fingers, like a fishing net.
