Experiments in Photoshop

done in 2008. I own Photoshop Elements and have taught myself how to do photo editing and digital coloration with it. Below is my first fully colored work using this program.
This (above) are the sketches by which the below image was taken from. The line art and coloring in the below image were done by touch pad with no use of a tablet. The character is an original character of mine. The costume is originally in red, but the blue and green versions below were tests as to changing the colors without redoing all the coloring.

Egyptian mythology Embroidery

Done December of 2007, this embroidery project depicts the Egyptian god Anubis preparing the mummified pharaoh. When asked why I chose this medium with this picture, my answer is fairly simple. I've always had a particular interest in Egyptian history and mythology and embroidery just happened to be on my mind at the time I was trying to think of a medium to convey my next project in. It took me approximately two weeks of constant work, but the end result was very satisfying.

Below is a page from my Research Work Book deciding on colors, and close ups of the final work.

Sketch book (outside of School)

A few excerpts from my Sketch book out side of School. All were done between the years of 2007 and 2009Referenced from stock photos, I wanted to attempt more cloth flow and folds.

The first picture I did with my oil paints, and the reference for my later ink print.
Up to this point in my sketch book I had been drawing only women. In this picture was one of my earlier attempts at drawing a non-feminine man.

Similarly as before, an attempt at drawing more masculine faces and short hair styles

This picture was an experiment of water colors on Oil Pastels
This image (above) is drawn referenced from an old Victorian fashion model.

Uri

Done December of 2008, it depicts a Fire Sprite in painted Stained Glass Window. Due to the complexity of creating a stained glass window, I was unable to actually create a in my art class, however I've chosen to use an artificial lead paint with glass paint to create a similar effect. The technique I've chosen reflects the bright fiery colors of the sunset in combination with the fantasy concept of elemental sprites. The name, Uri, means my fire, as displayed in the work of the woman cradling the flame.

The first pictures are of my Research Workbook, the third of the leading before any color has been applied, & the fourth of my chosen color scheme

Work from 10th Grade art workshops

Below works from an out of school general art workshop.

Below is a Sculpture of a centaur I made in 2007 using modeling clay. Since this work my knowledge of human anatomy and my skills with clay have greatly increased. This Sculpture was created by first building the entire piece out of aluminum foil and then covering it in modeling clay. The clay covered piece could then be put in a conventional oven and baked.
The sculpture after bing baked, was supposed to have metal wire hair, however due to my move to Serbia I was unable to complete this. However I did continue and instead gave the centaur real hair and the horse body was painted with acrylic paints. The Sculpture though, has not yet been fully completed.

Djimon

Made in 2008, this is my second working with Clay after the Tadewi Hand, this pot is a ring pot and took approximately two-three weeks to complete and is still waiting to be put in the kiln. With the head of an eagle and mane of a lion, this pot is a griffin and thus named "Djimon" meaning powerful blood as the griffin is a combination of the kings of the animal world. It was started during September of 2008. There is a handle, however due to complications with the clay it will be adhered after being put in the kiln.

Below are pages from my Research Work Book.

Katherine

Katherine Minola's (from
Taming of the Shrew) Dzumbus Costume Project. For my School's 2007 Shakespeare in The Park production. We were supposed to be create a costume using trash art for our student written Dzumbus Play, however I didn't fully gasp the concept and my idea uses many traditional costume mediums. In my final the shoulder pieces are painted masking tape and the corset is metallic bubble wrap with the rest being a combination of a red velvety material and a shiny golden cloth. However this costume was not used in the final presentation of Dzumbus, but the dress on the left of the picture to the left was used to to the actress' input. The new costume was created with a making tape bust and tissue paper skirt.

Above is the original plan I did for the costume and below are the end results.
